You can use them to easily pick pre-made volume lash fans too.  Most tweezers are designed to be held whichever way is most comfortable to you just as long as it is safe for both yourself and your client.

Pro Tip: You should never point your tweezers directly towards the eyes of your client. Always make sure to point them away from the eyes and it is recommended to use a gel-pad or layered tape under the clients eye to further prevent injury.
